Arteries:
Arteries (Efferent Vessels)- these take the blood away from the heart
Arterioles- small arteries, that help regulate blood pressure
Capillaries- small blood vessels that allow gases and nutrients swapping to happen through their walls.
Pulmonary arteries carry deoxygenated blood to the lungs, where carbon dioxide is changed in for oxygen. While systematic arteries deliver blood to the arterioles, and then to the capillaries, where they exchange nutrients and gases. Arteries are deeper and more muscular than veins.

Veins, Venules, and Varicose Veins:
Veins (Afferent Vessels)- take blood to the heart.
Venules- small veins, that allow blood to return from the capillary bed back to a vein.
Veins are blood vessels that carry blood towards the heart, usually carrying deoxygenated blood from tissues to the heart. Except in the pulmonary vein, it carries oxygenated blood to the heart, as the artery carries it away. Veins are smaller, and closer the the skins surface than an artery. Veins also have valves to keep blood flowing to the heart.
Varicose Veins- Varicose veins are veins that are enlarged. These veins are usually found in the leg (because of high pressures), but can occur anywhere else. Varicose veins occur when the valves in the veins no longer work, and it allows the blood in the vein to flow backward instead of toward the heart. These veins can be very painful, and they do not look very nice. These veins can be treated in surgical and non surgical ways.
